Dog training in Frederick, Maryland

Frederick is a dog town — Baker Park on a Saturday, the Carroll Creek promenade, patios on Market Street, the Monocacy trails, Gambrill and the Catoctins twenty minutes out. That is a lot of distraction, and it is exactly what our obedience training is built around: a dog that walks politely past other dogs, holds a sit outside the coffee shop, and comes back when the trail opens up.

For most Frederick families the easiest start is a free consult at your home, followed by private lessons — in your home at $150, or $95 at our place. Puppies and dogs who need daily repetition go into day training or board & train at our Union Bridge facility, about 30 minutes from downtown via Route 26 or 194, with Puppy Uber pick-up so you are not driving twice a day. Our Mt Airy location covers lessons for the Urbana and New Market side.

Reactivity and aggression cases start with a free evaluation. Program graduates keep access to weekly group class and the Adventure Club, which is where Frederick dogs really get to stretch their legs.

how it works

Passionate. Patient. Persistent.

We believe effective dog training starts with understanding the individual dog in front of us. Every dog—and every owner—is different, so we adapt our approach to find the methods that work best for both.

We set clear, realistic expectations and build communication, confidence, and consistency through training that feels rewarding and achievable. Above all, we believe training should be fun. Play is a powerful part of learning, helping dogs stay engaged, motivated, and connected with their people.

Our goal isn’t simply a well-trained dog—it’s a stronger relationship between dog and owner, built on trust, understanding, clear communication, and plenty of play.

got questions?

Questions from Frederick owners

Do you offer dog obedience training in Frederick, MD?
Yes. Obedience is the core of every program — sit, down, place, a reliable recall and loose-leash walking, proofed around real Frederick distractions. Lessons happen in your home anywhere in the city, or at our place.
Do you do puppy training in Frederick?
Yes — puppy lessons at your home from the week your puppy arrives, covering socialization, house and crate training, name response and the start of obedience. Older puppies who need daily practice do day training or board & train at Union Bridge.
How far is your facility from Frederick?
About 30 minutes from downtown — north on Route 26 through Libertytown, or up 194 through Walkersville — to Union Bridge. For day training and board & train, Puppy Uber pick-up from $30 a trip covers the drive.
Is there a trainer closer to Urbana or New Market?
Our Mt Airy location handles coaching lessons for the east side of Frederick, so Urbana, New Market and Monrovia owners have a shorter drive than Union Bridge.
Will training change my dog’s personality?
Not at all. Training won’t change who your dog is — it changes the control and confidence you have in day-to-day life together.
What’s your approach to training?
A balance of positive and negative reinforcement. It’s important for your dog to understand what they can and can’t do.
Which service is right for me?
Call or email to set up a consultation. Austin will come out for a meet-and-greet and help you choose the program that fits your dog and your goals.
How early can I start puppy training?
The week your puppy comes home is the best time — socialization and house manners start on day one. Contact us and we’ll match a plan to your puppy’s age, from coaching lessons through day training and board & train.
Do you offer dog obedience training?
Yes — obedience is the backbone of everything we do. Every program teaches sit, down, place, a recall that holds and loose-leash walking, then proofs them around real distractions. Pick the format that fits: lessons with you handling, day training, or board & train.
How much time do I need to train my dog?
Don’t focus on the hours. A few short, successful sessions beat long drawn-out ones. We’ll figure out the right rhythm for your pet together.
